You update the resume and it reads like everyone else's. You get into interviews and describe everything except the judgment that made it work. Or you know it's time to move and can't decide where to aim.
Every stage of a search asks the same question: the target list, the coffee chat, the recruiter screen, the final round. Why you, for this role? Inside Big Tech, you rarely had to answer it out loud. Outside, everyone you talk to is asking it.
WHAT WE'LL COVER
In 60 minutes, I'll walk through the framework I use with senior Big Tech leaders to work out what makes someone the obvious fit, and which part is breaking when a search stalls.
→ Your edge. Most senior leaders leave out the combination nobody else in the pile has, and end up reading as generic.
→ The problem you want to solve next. The problem you're best at solving only exists at certain kinds of companies. I'll show you how to tell whether your target and your experience match.
→ Whether they can see it. The stories that got you promoted internally get read a level or two below where you operate.
→ Where this is straightforward, and where it isn't. Some of it you can fix yourself. Some is very hard to see from the inside. I'll be direct about which is which.
WHO THIS IS FOR
Senior leaders (Director, Principal, L6/L7 or equivalent) who are actively searching or seriously considering a move. You've got the capability and you've put in the effort. What's missing is traction.
You're open to rethinking how you run your search and ready to put in consistent effort. If you're after a quick hack, this one isn't for you.
I spent 10 years at Amazon and Microsoft before building my coaching practice. Before a call, I can usually tell within minutes why someone's search is stalling. It's rarely the thing they booked the call about.
